The Elements of Hip-Hop and Where I Fit In

Hip-hop is often described through four classic elements: MCing (rapping), DJing, breaking (breakdancing) and graffiti. Many people add knowledge as a fifth, the idea that the culture is also about learning and sharing what you know.

I've lived in a few of those worlds.

MCing. Rapping is my main voice. It's how I tell stories, share ideas and connect with listeners.

Breaking. I've been breakdancing since I was a kid. It's still the foundation of how I understand rhythm and movement.

Knowledge. This one guides much of my current work. Through my writing, my role as a brand ambassador and the platform ideas I'm developing, I'm trying to share what I know so other creators can move faster than I did.

I think the elements are best understood as a family. Each one supports the others, and the culture is strongest when they stay connected.

Wherever you enter hip-hop, whether through the mic, the dance floor, the turntables or the wall, you're part of something bigger. That's what I love about it.
